Purpose: MBL Officer will be responsible for prospecting and originating new Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Commercial & Industrial loans (C&I) with a focus on targeting small to middle market companies. Responsible for managing all relationships within an assigned portfolio with the ability to develop new revenue/fee income for the credit union through the development of new commercial relationships, negotiating and closing new lines of commercial credit and loans, and generating new deposits. Must establish a referral network and relationships with commercial real estate brokers, loan brokers, CPAs, accountants, lawyers, etc. Responsible for expanding and retaining relationships while profiling new and existing commercial clients to ensure cross-sell of deposits, credit, and other credit union consumer products.

Work Schedule: Monday Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm.

DUTIES

Develops, generates, and follows up with new client leads from referrals.

Calls on existing business clients to review portfolios and make recommendations as needed.

Strengthens and manages existing business client relationships.

Responsible for credit analysis, proper loan structuring, client interviewing, and perceptive character judgment.

Ability to negotiate proper business loan structures.

Oversees and manages business loan portfolio to ensure compliance with appropriate regulations, laws, and credit union policies.

Provides training to specific employees on business loan products, services, policies and procedures.

Development and production of credit union products, services and leading edge delivery systems with respect to business client portfolio.

Must have strong business development and networking skills in order to seek out new business and maintain an active pipeline.

Recommends approvals on member applications for all types of business loans.

Acts as liaison for business vendor relationships.

Assists branches in developing sales strategies for business clients.

Demonstrates the delivery of quality member service through personal contact with members and prospects.

Provides input to the development of sales and advertising strategies for new and existing credit union products to serve business clients.

Attends Board and appropriate Committee meetings and report in areas of responsibility as requested.

Working knowledge of all federal, state, and NCUA regulations and guidelines pertaining to member business loans

 Perform all other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of credit union operations, products, and service, lending operations, and leading-edge delivery systems.

Knowledge of business banking policies, practices and regulatory statutes.

Knowledge of the fundamentals of the financial industry.

An understanding of basic data processing system concepts, including an understanding or a conceptual grasp of systems, hardware and technology.

Familiar with marketing objectives to ensure consistency in business member sales and service.

Ability to generate and analyze research data. Working knowledge of appropriate financial analysis techniques.

Must be able to represent the Credit Union in a professional, businesslike manner in a variety of settings and circumstances, and must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to resolve member and employees problems and complaints.

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university plus at least five years of related experience in business lending; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid State of Texas driver's license required along with valid automobile liability insurance policy that meets or exceeds required limits of liability coverage.
